Step 1: Tennis Two-Handed Backhand Pivot and Shoulder Turn
The first step of the tennis two-handed backhand is the pivot and shoulder turn. You execute this step as soon as you realize you are hitting a two-handed backhand. The pivot and the shoulder turn starts your tennis racket take back by virtue of your shoulders turning sideways.

Step 2: Tennis Two-Handed Backhand Racket Back
The second step of the two-handed backhand is to take your tennis racket back. Having completed the pivot and shoulder turn, you can now use your arms as well as a continued shoulder turn to take the tennis racket all the way back. Once the tennis racket is back, you will be looking over your front shoulder at the oncoming tennis ball.

Step 3: Tennis Two-Handed Backhand Swing to Contact
The third step of the two-handed backhand is to swing to contact. Now that your preparation is complete, you swing forward by doing the following three things at the same time: 1) push off your outside foot and get your heel up, 2 rotate your body back toward the net, and 3) swing to contact with your arms. This will get you to your contact point on your two-handed backhand.

Step 4: Tennis Two-Handed Backhand Follow Through
The fourth and final step fo the two-handed backhand is the follow through. From contact, extend out in the direction you are hitting the ball and continue to rotate your body. Then, wrap the tennis racket over your shoulder by bending at the elbows.
