Modern Tennis Footwork with Yann Auzoux

hello, thanks to the FYB site, I learn much from you. However, I have a queation with my western grip. In the video, you showed that the index knuckle and heel pad rest on the bevel 5, but in my western grip the index knuckle and “pinkie knuckle” rest on the bevel 5. Is that inappropriate or something wrong?

    Hi,

I’ve been playing tennis for a while but just as a hobby but now i want to enter a tournament so i started looking into this site for advice and i did not know how many different grips existed, i’ve prcticed most of them and have one question, what is the difference regarding the wastern grip if you hold it on the first bevel rather than the fifth?

  • prince of tennis

the 1st bevel is just opposite way for left handed people or so i’ve heard

Against level players, i end up loosing the first 2-3 games and create a deficit for myself and many times I am able to level it up but its a lot to pick on to complete the set always winning. Why does this happen to me? Does it happen to lot many? What is this syndrome ailing my game. Thanks Vikas Vij

    Hello Vikas,

    One of 2 things:

    1. Slow starter (Try warming up against a wall or go to the tennis court before your opponent shows up and hit a few groundstrokes and serves by yourself).

    2. Nervous and tight (I like the same idea as the first suggestion and try to trick your mind. For example, pick a score you feel comfortable with and pretend that’s the score. (2 all, 3-2, 2-3 and I do this all the time to help take the pressure off. Also, don’t forget it’s just for fun and if you lose so what there’s always another day.

    Good luck,

    Jim
