Melanie Oudin Hitting / BCF Tennis Challenge

Yesterday we shot some video at the BCF Tennis Challenge, a charity event started by Pam Shriver, in Baltimore, MD. Melanie Oudin, the breakout star at this year’s US Open, was one of the participants (others included John McEnroe, Lindsay Davenport, the Bryan bros and John Isner).

Below is a video of Oudin hitting. We’ll be rolling out more video from the charity event in the next days and weeks, including some tips from the pros! For example, we spoke with the Bryans about proper volley technique and Isner about how to balance your practice sessions. Stay tuned!

Finally, a special thanks to the BCF Tennis Challenge for accommodating us. The money raised from the event goes to various charities in the greater Baltimore area — if you live in the area make sure to attend next year!

Wow, you don’t notice how bad your own footwork looks until you compare it to the pros…

Oudin has one of the shortest take backs on the forehand in the women’s game… It almost looks like a man’s forehand.. Not in a bad way of course..

Look how she starts to speed up the racquet before she hits the ball so, when she gets to the contact, she is already at 100% of the racquet speed.
Awesome video!
Take care,
Horacio Melo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
